Huntin P @PaxVobiscum80 5 days ago Not as highly regarded as High Plains Drifter, of which it appears to be a remake, Pale Rider is, nonetheless, mighty fine entertainment. Eastwood directs and stars as the Preacher, a mysterious stranger who comes to stay with some prospectors panning for gold. A larger outfit, who are blasting the territory with water, I think for the same purpose, want the prospectors off the land, but they won't give up their claim. Things turn ugly. Luckily, Preacher is handier with the pistol than the prayerbook. "Sarah...close the door." The first point that impresses is the magnificent cinematography in a stunning landscape. The direction and acting is also top-notch, with outstanding action scenes. The mysterious preacher has elements of an ambiguous supernatural element. The story uses elements from "Shane" but is also great. My vote is eight.
