[Kenneth Branagh] doesn't bring much new to the basic conception-a bunch of famous actors play eccentrics cooped up on a train, with secrets to be unearthed. But he does embellish the template with glossy extras.

Visually impeccable and featuring a star-studded cast, this adaptation falters by focusing too much on style and less on the substance of the mystery. The pacing wavers between classic charm and modern melodrama, and the lack of time to develop the suspects diminishes the impact of the big final reveal. A beautiful and passable film, but far from memorable.

I enjoyed the journey that this film took me on. It is one where multiple people could be the killer and I changed my mind several times on who was my suspect. True to form, the Hercule Poirot character had me thinking his questions and clues were meaningless until they weren't. That is one of the best things about these types of movies and this one didn't disappoint. It's a solid watch.

Not recommended. Very strong cast, but let down by a set that seemed to be created by AI or poorly constructed in studio. It felt like a first run through of the script, dragged and was not engaging. This version was not a patch on the 1974 version.
