A young woman spends her days renovating the Victorian mansion that she lives in with her husband in the countryside. When a stranger knocks on the door one night, he becomes an unexpected guest in their home. Later, his wife and two children also arrive to make themselves welcome. This is one very under appreciated movie. Darren Aronofsky has made another powerful piece, that is the most intense visual crescendo I've witnessed in cinema. Starts as a slow burn that builds and goes so far past where you think the edge would be. I highly recommend ignoring any negative reviews, as I truly feel if you love movies that you should experience this one. Requiem for a Dream and Mother! are Aronofsky's best works in my opinion, with Noah and Black Swan being next in line. All four should be apart of any cinemaphiles viewing experience.

I can’t even put into words how truly awful this movie was. It was genuinely the most disturbing, sickening movie I’ve ever watched. What an absolute mockery of religion. I’m disgusted and traumatized with this portrayal. I wish I could unsee it!

this was the MOST disturbing film i have ever seen. huge trigger warnings. jennifer was great. but this was such a disrespectful way of portraying religion. me and my friend were utterly disgusted and i was gagging. i would not make my greatest enemy watch this movie. i cant even write this review because i am in shock of how nasty that was.

This movie is the definition of pretentious nonsense. It’s not deep, it’s not clever, and it’s definitely not enjoyable. It’s just two hours of fake symbolism, chaos, and cringe pretending to be "art." The baby scene wasn’t powerful or meaningful, it was straight-up gross and felt like cheap shock value. I went in loving the cast and walked out annoyed and disappointed. Mother! is one of the most aggravating movies I’ve ever watched.
