This is an unimaginatively faithful remake that leaves the original intact, complete with songs co-written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. But the replacement of animated beings with live actors manages to ramp up the folkloric kitsch considerably.

One of Disney's best live-action adaptations. This movie celebrates the culture and stays true to the original animation. However, as usual, Dwayne Johnson's "Rock" persona is a little strong and feels out of place. Maui scenes come off as stiff.

Very beautiful film with a great story. The performance from the lead actress and the woman who plays her grandmother were very moving. The song numbers and choreography were also fun, moving, and engaging and stayed true to the original. Really enjoyed this one from Disney.
