The Limey follows Wilson (Terence Stamp), a tough English ex-con who travels to Los Angeles to avenge his daughter's death. Upon arrival, Wilson goes to task battling Valentine (Peter Fonda) and an army of L.A.'s toughest criminals, hoping to find clues and piece together what happened. After surviving a near-death beating, getting thrown from a building and being chased down a dangerous mountain road, the Englishman decides to dole out some bodily harm of his own.

Unconventional film making (inspired by Beat Takashi?) but also entertaining and watchable, mainly due to Terence Stamps performance and the rest of the cast. He acts very OTT, maybe for American audiences but that also makes it funnier in a way.

92% on RT? Why? This is middling Soderbergh, if that. Starts off well enough, w/ a basic revenge plot. I like Stamp a lot, but he's under serviced here by weak, formulaic writing. The dialogue is good in general, but other than the pacing and a competent use of tone, not much to recommend. Stamp is fine in the lead, w/ good work from Guzman and Warren. But Fonda and the supporting role players are fairly pedestrian. 2.8 stars

Neo noir done to perfection. Soderbergh directs this with expected aplom and Stamp provides a towering central performance. Stamp has done some world class films as well as some dross but when he was called upon by a proper director and script he could deliver with the absolute best.
