Its approach to the gangster genre makes me think that, certainly, it delivers a remarkable performance from Tom Hardy in his dual role, but his crime legends frequent commonplaces that never abandon the conventional tone. [Full review in Spanish]

I enjoyed the film quite a bit. It’s seen through a different perspective from the main characters. We see a story of the characters from an outsider perspective with enough detail that the narrative is almost first person. It’s both a love story, action, and tragedy in one generating a series of different emotions.

Taking this movie at face value as a vehicle for the staggering talent that is Tom Hardy this would probably score full marks. One mark down for all the little flaws that are not Hardy's fault. Fair?

This is the perfect role for Tom Hardy. His performance as Charles Bronson blew me away and I always find that when he is placed in roles playing infamous characters from Britain's underworld he really shines. Not only is he a formidable force with his acting skills but I am always impressed by his physical commitment to becoming the people he plays. He was almost the spitting image of Charlie Bronson and he has done it again with the Krays. It's actually such a formidable performance that I genuinely think of him whenever the Krays cross my mind. You would think that playing both of the twins would be a difficult thing to do, but it works magnificently well and Tom creates a clear distinction between both Reggie and Ronald Kray. In my opinion he captures the postures, mannerisms and psyches of both of them so impressively well that you genuinely feel that they are two very different brothers. 8 / 10
