Offering exhilarating eye candy, solid acting, and a fast-paced story, Kong: Skull Island earns its spot in the movie monster's mythos without ever matching up to the classic original.

Kong: Skull Island isn't a B-movie - but with its intentionally bad writing and jarring lack of cohesion, it lamely pretends to be one. Go to Full Review

More action sequences (visible and in daylight), more monsters, and a visually stunning Kong. However, most of the runtime stills belong to the humans who, unfortunately, are nowhere near to being as compelling as in the previous film. Go to Full Review

It’s a well made, fast-paced monster movie with far more craft behind its presentation and storytelling than you would expect. Go to Full Review

Jens B @Jens97 22h A B-movie with a $180,000,000 budget, state-of-the-art special effects, a running time of under two hours and a dangerous tropical island as the setting? Count me in! It would be pointless to write anything about the script, character development or the miscast Samuel Jackson - "Kong: Skull Island" is designed as a nice way to pass the time and works quite well as such. See more Christian R @RT90248046 1d 6.9/10 There's plenty to like about this movie as it technically has the best direction and cast of the Monsterverse. It also has a lot of fun set pieces and action scenes to help keep everyone entertained. Heck, even the monsters feel much livelier here than in 2014. It's just that the plot swings back and forth on whether it wants goofy comedy and a surprisingly vicious/serious tone and violence (I am usually not a stickler for that kind of thing, but it sticks out here). What makes it worse is that the plot is also pretty thin here as well with very little development of the human characters. The action scenes were exciting, the visuals looked great, and Kong was the highlight of the movie. The story kept me interested all the way through. A really enjoyable monster adventure.
