Victor O @RT45890256 Sep 27, 2025 I saw this in the filmography of one of my favorite actresses and decided to check it out. I’m familiar with the 1980s and 1990s craze of heroic dog movies like Turner and Hooch, and the original K-9. Back when Jim Belushi was practically unstoppable as the younger brother of the epic John Belushi with a more family-friendly background. I knew of the first movie, but I had no idea this was a trilogy, so I skipped the second, but I like the look of this, so I decided to check it out. It has been over a decade since Detective Thomas Dooley worked alongside his faithful partner on the force, canine Jerry Lee, and it’s time to hang it up as he approaches retirement. But within a day of his retirement, and mere hours after his retirement party, he stumbles onto a case that sees him as a suspect despite his years on the force, so he takes it upon himself to establish himself as a private detective to clear his name, as well as make a few bucks. Living the life as a private detective has its perks as he charms a lovely lady who turns the case around but like the legendary detective novels ends up learning the hard way. This wasn’t bad at all. Jim Belushi is not the action hero, comedic draw he once was, but this was a nice way to end it all. It’s a shame this was a straight to video release.
