Anyone who digs medieval movies will enjoy this, especially compared to what's made today. It had a smaller budget, but they used it well, on a great cast and some of the best combat scenes and realistic gore I've ever seen. It's over the top violent, being true to the era it depicts. Paul Giamatti is a great villain, giving us insight into how he rationalizes his brutality and delivering one of the greatest speeches in the genre. James Purefoy is solid and believable as the hero, and Brian Cox and a familiar supporting cast bring the quality script to life. Must watch for any fan of knights and armor.
