Guns Up follows Ray Hayes (Kevin James), an ex-cop and devoted husband and father who leads a dangerous double life as a mob henchman. On the brink of leaving "The Family" and making his dream of opening a diner with his wife Alice (Christina Ricci) a reality, his final job goes off the rails. With the clock ticking, Ray has one night to get his unsuspecting family out of the city before he gets snuffed out.

Guns Up is solid proof that a familiar story, told with grit and heart, can be enough. It’s an undeniable victory for Kevin James, who proves that he can pull off an action hero. It's entertaining if, admittedly, not too deep.

For a film with a name like “Guns Up,” there’s surprisingly little by way of armed shootouts until the final act. For a tale of a family man moonlighting as a mob enforcer, the story and action lack the urgency suggested by its one-last-job premise.

A hypothetically ideal American family goes against their foes to preserve their chances at a better life. Energetic action sequences with enough spillage paired with the cute twist at the very end saves the day. Great acting by the cast. Excellent special effects. Powerful sound effects. It's a fun watch.

Soo sick of the "girl power" bologna. No matter the context. Otherwise the writing was somewhat creative, I guess. Most of this movie's creative potential was overshadowed by the need to make it "empowering". Half of the film was pretty good until it turned into loony tunes. We understand it's a movie's purposes to be fantastical. The 80lb girl superfiggter makes it essentially.... Roger Rabbit. It went too far and I lost interest. "Dad married John Wick" sounds like a line from a Naked Gun movie. Top it off with a Hallmark Movie Channel ending and a slap in the face to real action movie seekers. They gave the wife the plot armor of Ray Palpatine Skywalker and Joey Diaz didn't even get his gun level. Who are our heroes anymore anyways? Co*ksuckermotherfu*ker! Either take a joke or take a shuttle! Check yourself before you wreck yourself. Stay black cuz, that's the most important part. If you know, you know

I’ve always been a Kevin James and Ricci fan and this one definitely didn’t hurt. Familiar story but as always James making even the most mundane of storylines credible. He’s still hilarious with a Jean Claude kick.
