Don't know why I liked this movie as a kid. As someone who likes Ashton Kutchar and his humor, I'm not sure I laughed at all during this film. See more Red T 07/31/2023 It's disappointing because this concept could work if the dialogue was more witty, the plot had more underlying commentary, and the setting was during a different time. It feels like in 2005 especially that we're past this and feels out of place. Everything about this more importantly is just fundamentally ok but nothing special at all. Nothing pops cinematically, the camerawork is so basic, the music is boring and forgettable, and everyone is doing enough to be passable. Problem is no one has that much chemistry or charm. But the worst handicap is the humor is unfunny and service level humor with occasional out of place slap stick. It's the kind of humor you'd expect to find on BlackJokes.com, not in a major motion picture and it's not delivered in a witty way at all. And this ends up making you not care much at all about the main characters either. Add to it that it feels like stuff just happens when they meet the first time, don't like each other and secrets get revealed but it doesn't add anything to the plot of that make sense or add depth. They still don't like each other with or without the secrets all the same. I can't recommend this to anyone besides super die hard Kutcher fans because even though he's nothing special this is probably one of his "better" performances but that's not saying much.
