Welll A @Azevader88 7 hrs ago John Carpenter is all around here, soundtrack, directing choices, cinematography, acting style... Luciana Paes (Sara) is the big revelation of the film, I already loved her from her comedy projects. The mise en scene refers to the theater, I wouldn't be surprised if it was an adaptation of a play. The narrative boldness is admirable, but it left me very confused by its subjectivity, until I managed to concatenate any logic in what I watched. In my interpretation, "Friendly Beast" is about the animal that exists in all of us as a society, that primitive ID of ours that we do not allow to appear by the imposed social rules and that our superego represses. The extreme situation of the robbery was the fuse that spilled the broth of those characters and stripped the social veil, making everyone show themselves as they are underneath, especially the owner of the restaurant and Sara, whose attitudes did not follow an order, nor a logic, erratic in a social chaos, like animals.
