The second entry in the long-running horror series focuses on a group of teenage would-be counselors converging on Camp Crystal Lake for training under the tutelage of head counselor Paul (John Furey). Inevitably, Paul relates the story of Jason Voorhees (Warrington Gillette), a boy who ostensibly drowned at the camp and whose mother murdered a group of counselors in revenge. No one takes the tale seriously until a very much alive Jason begins gruesomely eliminating people.

Alice returns briefly only to be murdered in her home during the opening ten minutes. The action moves to a nearby counselor training camp where a sack-headed Jason begins his revenge. Final girl Ginny manages to evade him by discovering his shrine, putting on Mrs. Voorhees' old sweater, and tricking Jason into thinking she is his mother before slashing him down. The kills are fairly decent and mean-spirited, notably featuring a brutal wire-strangulation and a hammer to the skull. Ginny's psychological trick with the sweater is a clever twist. The music is heavy-handed, cheesy, and annoying. The first hour moves at a boring pace, the dialogue is weak, and Jason's dramatic pauses like holding a knife in the air forever before stabbing look completely silly. The ending is frustratingly vague regarding whether Paul survived.

Classic Jason, campy, and fun. Critics are sop pretentious nowadays trying to seem better than everyone instead of just enjoying a fun classic film!!!

I love this movie so much. No matter how many times I watch it, it remains terrifying. Jason is a very interesting character, which makes the film even better.
