Waverly (Andrea Bang) thought she had her future figured out. She'd start her medical residency in Toronto after a summer visit to her parents in Taipei. When her plans are suddenly changed, she makes an impulsive detour to a small Canadian town, where she meets local lifeguard Blake (Robbie Amell). After he saves her from nearly drowning at a beach party, Blake offers to teach Waverly to swim, and as the lessons continue, the two unexpectedly find themselves falling in love. But will Blake's ties to his past and Waverly's plans to begin a new job keep them apart once summer ends? Based on the novel by Kate Marchant.

Float rises higher than expectations due in part to the delicate cinematography by Alfonso Chin, and by the additions in LaVercombe and Lee's script.

Unless filmmakers are willing — or able — to craft something new in this genre, or at worst, to convey a fresh sensation from something familiar, perhaps it's best not to try altogether.

While it initially starts in a relatable sense to the audience, it loses much of its authenticity and charm in the lackluster filler and predictability, drowning with no chance of rescue.

The best part was the actress. She played the part perfectly. I also loved the found family aspect. But two breakups felt unnecessary. Wish he got help to better communicate

This is such a sweet romantic movie 🥰 The leads have great chemistry together. The supporting actors are real and do feel like they are family. I would definitely recommend and watch again. Yes, predictable but do you watch romance movies to be bummed out? Ofc not. The movie gives you all the good feelings. Some have said it’s like a Hallmark movie but what’s wrong with that? Much better acting though 😎
