Kevin P @RT55971421 Jul 20 Great court drama about the sketchy corrupt politics of the American military during the Cold War proxy wars and Cuba's Guantanamo Bay. Excellently directed by Rob Reiner with an incredible cast. The movie is famous for the classic lines "I want the truth!" "You CAN'T HANDLE the truth!" During the courtroom scenes. But it's still great on its own with some solid cinematography, especially during the opening scene with the rifle squad choreography. It's an intriguing court investigation mystery movie. There's are so many great courtroom speeches and the main trio are all very memorable. Jack Nicholson is especially great as the slimy intense antagonist commander. The film ends with a tense and satisfying climax at the final courtroom scene. It's a great film with a timeless history lesson about military ethics and the importance of truth and doing what's right even when everyone else tells you no. More than else anything else, it’s a condemnation of blindly following authority when it comes into conflict with basic moral standards. Would we do something that’s completely against our principles simply because a superior figure ordered us to do so? It’s a quandary at the centre of many an atrocity throughout history, and results in some of fieriest scenes in the film. The ensemble cast all turn in great performances, with a super energetic Tom Cruise carrying the majority of it, but it can’t be argued that Jack Nicolson is having the most fun of anyone. See more Chris B @Papa13070 May 19 A good film is what A Few Good Men is. It is not perfect but especially the performances take this film to a higher level. Tom Cruise and Demi Moore as the 'good guys' are good, as is Kevin Bacon. But the 'bad guys' make this movie really good. Kiefer Sutherland and most of all Jack Nicholson are masterful. The story is interesting and well told. We all know the truth from the beginning, or we think we do, but the movie is still exciting in its own way. I liked this movie very much, it was never boring, and I was real pleased that some of the cliches you normally see in a movie like this one were left out. A courtroom investigation drama has built in immortality. Even a slightly flawed one refuses to age. And this? Still hits with full force.
