Vanessa P @Nessadearest 1d There were things about this movie that I really liked, but it did seem to go downhill halfway through. There was a great opportunity to take it to a deeper level & set it apart from every other cliché rom com; But they didn’t go the distance with what could’ve been. I think one of my biggest gripes would be that they had to make completely implausible, silly, and ridiculously absurd decisions so that the movie could go in the direction "it was supposed to go for the ending they wanted". This meant that every decision by each of the main characters is not only unrealistic, but leaves you rolling your eyes because it feels so contrived and forced for the sake of the movie. They could’ve done so much more with this movie, but they chose to stay at the surface, solidifying themselves as a predictable, forgettable, cliché rom com. I watched four movies today, and then you dump this crap on me!? A nauseating Lifetime-ish /Hallmark-kinda movie masquerading as something other than that. The second half kinda falls apart along with any sympathy for the lead Virginia Gardner's character. Ugh. The writing in the 2nd half is BAD. There's nothing that awful, it just becomes another trashy movie. You won't hate it. Probably. I will say Sylar Astin is consistently pretty bad in this movie. Doesn't have any charisma at all. There are enjoyable moments that make it entertaining in the moment, but once it ends, it doesn’t leave much behind. The problem is that aside from Marisa Tomei and Natasha Leggaro, the characters are not all that likable. The character flaws f the main character are not cute, and made her very unappealing to me.
