Mia (Jane Levy), a drug addict, is determined to kick the habit. To that end, she asks her brother, David (Shiloh Fernandez), his girlfriend, Natalie (Elizabeth Blackmore) and their friends Olivia (Jessica Lucas) and Eric (Lou Taylor Pucci) to accompany her to their family's remote forest cabin to help her through withdrawal. Eric finds a mysterious Book of the Dead at the cabin and reads aloud from it, awakening an ancient demon. All hell breaks loose when the malevolent entity possesses Mia.

Fede Álvarez’s Evil Dead, while not entirely following the Evil Dead traditions the cult classic is famous for, creates a further sprawl into the Raimi-verse, bringing the world of the Deadites firmly into modern day.

Takes the bones of the core concept, then remixes and reimagines them in ways that honor the spirit of the source material without trying to replicate it. Without Bruce Campbell's charm, this might be the best we could get out of an Evil Dead revival.

This movie is bananas! Gory , nasty, brutal, and unrelenting. Amazing practical effects and kills! People complain cause the tone is different but this is its own thing! Must watxh.

6.9/10 It's brutal violence and serious tone might turn those away from this one, but this movie does a good job reinventing the original in a more modern setting. For a first film in Fede Alvarez's filmography, he did a pretty good job.

The best of the best in the entire franchise! The story, the gore, the scares... incredible! Mia deserves every bit of her title of Final Girl after making it through the events in this film. Not sure how the franchise will be able to do better than this.

My favorite of the franchise to be honest. I don't get the hate. There's a deeper story about battling internal demons and literal demons. There's personal struggle along with the struggle of the protagonist's family and friends etc. it's terrifying and gory as all hell. How is this unlocked?
