The movie is beautifully animated to look like a storybook, with its simplistic designs and warm & fuzzy watercolors that resemble illustrations in a cozy winter city setting. The character reactions are very expressive and there is very fluid animation with all the characters movements and slapstick. It's excellent visual humor and keeps the pace going at such a fun and fast momentum. The English dub has an amazing cast, with some excellent voice acting from Forrest Whittaker, Pauline Brunner, Nick Offerman, Meghan Mullaney, Paul Giamatti, and Jeffrey Wright. The soundtrack is very gentle and relaxing with its soft jazzy music. Ernest and Celestine's friendship is adorable. Their first encounter was hilarious and their connection over art and being outcasts was touching. The movie is a fun, short, fast-paced adventure with some really charming characters and artwork. Outstanding bit of hand drawn animation that is superior to most CGI animations. This film wasn't made. It was crafted with love. Highly recommended. Then they broke into a candy store, broke into a store and busted a safe to steal teeth, stole a car, and ran from the authorities. But let's look past it because they're friends and he was hungry? Let's not. You can't just break into places and steal from others if you're hungry or you need something. But this film implies as long as you're friends with your co-conspirators, it's all good.
