Great cast and characters, a fun story and loads of laugh out loud moments. It's nicely directed and has a bunch of cool scenery too. A real gem. See more Don V @DonnVall Sep 8, 2026 In my Top 10. Great writing, story, acting, directing, editing, and perfect cast. The film is filled with many funny scenes. None of it is ridiculous goofball-type comedy. No errors. I did wonder if two detectives from New Jersey would drive their unmarked police car all the way from NJ to Montana to hopefully catch a bank robber, but that's probably nit-picky stuff. It could have been written that way to add to the story in which the police car does come into play later. The scene where one of the bank robbers is trying to explain to the judge how he ended up with a stolen car is one of my fav scenes. Brilliantly written, and acted. It’s indicitive of how crooks can end up with stupid excuses when surprised by questions they weren’t ready for. The first 20-mins is a bit slow (but nevertheless interesting). Hang in there as it picks up when two young boys are shooting at bottles. Great ending. Disorganized Crime is a classic gem that entertains!! See more Jul 31, 2022 I remember seeing this movie in the video store, but never actually watched it, so when the Kino blu-ray for it went on sale super cheap, I decided to get it, but was sadly disappointed. Despite a solid cast and being written and directed by Jim Kouf, who wrote the funny "Stakeout" and "Rush Hour" along with writing the excellent sci-fi flick "The Hidden" along with being the creator of the excellent TV series "Grimm," this movie really disappoints and ends up being a heist comedy that forgot to be funny. Big city gangsters Fred Gwynne, Lou Diamond Phillips, Rubén Blades, William Russ, and their leader Corbin Bernsen plan to rob a bank in a sleepy Montana town. Of course, things don't go as planned, mainly of which is New Jersey detectives Ed O'Neill and Daniel Roebuck arrest Bernsen before the robbery, leaving his minions to try to pull off the heist without their leader. The Montana setting is charming and unique, but that only goes so far. Gwynne and Blades are the standouts in the film, who manage to bring some level of dry humor to the film, but it's not enough to salvage a disappointing unfunny comedy that I think had the potential to be a sly comedy along the lines of "Midnight Run" or "The Hard Way."
