Novelist Harry Block (Woody Allen) has become a success by turning his family and friends' lives into fodder for his books. Due to his novels' popularity, the university that once kicked Harry out has asked him to return for a ceremony that will honor him. As Harry sets out for the trip, he is confronted by his fictional characters, as well as real people who no longer want anything to do with him, and he learns how deeply his overly candid stories have affected those around him.

I originally saw this in the theater when I was 18 years old. I liked it then, and recently watched it now, nearly 30 years later and I absolutely love it. I laughed throughout, and not just at particular jokes but also at whole situations, for example (spoiler) Harry Block (Woody Allen) travels to a prestigious university to accept an award for writing and shows up with a prostitute, a kidnapped child, and a dead body! Hilarious! Also the idea of weaving his narrative with the real characters and the fictional ones from Block’s novels is genius level.

I like The Woodman. But this is not one of his best. The word rambling comes to mind. But then the edits are faster and seem off. Acting like always is great, but can't fix this mess.

Ridiculously heavy handed, self-satisfied, poorly written characters, and worst is the weak flurry of stereotypical intellectually-chic buzzword themes, just a train wreck overall. And the random jagged cutting?? Skip this

Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, woody Allen tenta ser o protagonista bom nesse filme, só que não consegue, o elenco é fraco e ninguém consegue melhorar o filme, e o filme não tem uma cena relevante para o filme ser bom.
