After transferring to a Los Angeles high school, Sarah (Robin Tunney) finds that her telekinetic gift appeals to a group of three wannabe witches, who happen to be seeking a fourth member for their rituals. Bonnie (Neve Campbell), Rochelle (Rachel True) and Nancy (Fairuza Balk), like Sarah herself, all have troubled backgrounds, which combined with their nascent powers lead to dangerous consequences. When a minor spell causes a fellow student to lose her hair, the girls grow power-mad.

The Craft is teenage witchcraft with a side of revenge and a very serious attitude problem. Four outsiders discover that power is fun right up until it starts charging interest. Moody, nasty, stylish, and proof that high school was basically a horror movie anyway. And then there’s the real magic trick. Watching friendship turn into a power struggle, one bad decision at a time. Nobody here is exactly innocent, but that’s the point. The spells are flashy, the consequences are personal. By the end, you’re less worried about the supernatural than you are about who’s getting invited to lunch.

Desestimable. Cuando veo películas de años atrás procuro juzgarlas como lo habría hecho en aquel entonces y si bien esta película no ha envejecido bien, sí tiene buenos efectos dignos de aplaudirsele. Por otro lado, considero que su peor falla fue su guión y las actuaciones de algunos personajes por no decir la coestrella. Es una película que de momento no deja nada y no es imperdible; espero que se reivindique con su secuela del año 2020. No puedo recomendarla. Al menos ya sabemos de donde sacaron la idea para la basura de Obsesión.
