As a suicide survivor, demon hunter John Constantine (Keanu Reeves) has literally been to hell and back -- and he knows that when he dies, he's got a one-way ticket to Satan's realm unless he can earn enough goodwill to climb God's stairway to heaven. While helping policewoman Angela Dodson (Rachel Weisz) investigate her identical twin's apparent suicide, Constantine becomes caught up in a supernatural plot involving both demonic and angelic forces. Critics Consensus

Despite solid production values and an intriguing premise, Constantine lacks the focus of another spiritual shoot-em-up: The Matrix.

The Angel Gabriel and Satan are some of the best depictions of well-known Bible characters that I’ve ever seen on screen... A breath of fresh air in today’s hyper-cookie-cutter style comic book movie world. Go to Full Review

This film is pretty underrated and the CGI and the practical effects are not bad. Keanu Reeves did great in this movie. The visuals are stunning. The action is pretty solid. Overall, I give Constantine a 8.4/10 or 4.5/5 stars. See more James B Jan 18 I had seen mixed review on this, but I honestly didn't think it was half bad. I thought Keanu was great in this role, and it was an entertaining movie. It's probably been one of the better DC comic adaptations in my opinion. See more Hughe J @Hughe Jan 12 Constantine was released in theatres in 2005 and stars Keanu Reeves in the title role with Rachel Weisz, Shia LaBeouf, Tilda Swinton, Max Baker, Djimon Hounsou and others co-starring. Reeves Constantine is a spiritual warrior battling demons from Hell trying to take over our world. While the plot is a bit convoluted the spear used to kill Christ can also be used to allow Satan's son to invade Earth. The angel Gabriel, frustrated at God's love for his children, acquires the spear and starts a series of events that will eventually bring Hell to our world. Constantine must fight to stop this before all is lost. So, this is a pretty good movie. Keanu Reeves plays Keanu Reeves, which is perfect for this role. LaBeouf wasn't annoying, Weisz and Swinton are decent, but Peter Stormare as Lucifer stole the few scenes he was in. The SFX are PS3 level but the movie holds up really well otherwise and everything about this is fun; the ending not so much but still, highly recommended. See more Read all reviews
