Emma X @alfreda_huns25 Jul 17 A four and a half stars rate while 4 out of the 4.5 I rated should be only attributed to Alan Rickman. He is just, so good at acting, painting both villains and good men. Although Sinclair can be quite self-centred and positively flaunting, in general it was heart breaking seeing his eyes in the scene when he was on the couch after Natalie went back from her trip with her brother and the affair. It just makes me wanted to hug him so bad. Beautiful shoting skills, filters, lighting, setting, CMH (custome, makeup, hair) and everything was very visually pleasuring. Especially the filter that makes the who film feels cozy and warm is just very heart-lighting, which also perfectly aligns to the setting of Sinclair's occupation as a financialist and being in the high society and residing in one of the most upscale places in London. Regardless of the setting of his background/status the shots are beautiful without doubt, amazing ambiance and each frame deserve to be my screensaver. The affair that is the central conflict on this film is interesting only in the sense that I spent most of the film wondering what drew these two siblings to each other in the first place. Their behavior before they begin fucking is quite unremarkable, a supportive brother, an adoring sister, with a mild sexual chemistry that inflames briefly and smolders. The mysterious nature of their sexuality is interesting and perhaps the center of what the film is saying about sex and love. The rest of the film's plotlines are haphazard and repetitive and rather trite ways the siblings hide their activities and resist their own desire. Most of the film is nothing you haven't seen before. Overall, Close My Eyes begins with a good idea but fizzles to cliche. See more 04/13/2014 I thought this was an outstanding film. Terrific performances by Clive Owen, Saskia Reeves and Alan Rickman. Saskia Reeves' character "closes her eyes," pretending that crossing the line and having an incestuous affair with her brother "doesn't count" as cheating on her husband, because it's within the family. All hell breaks loose in the best fight scene I've ever seen on film -so realistic, it's scary. The film lasted with me long after I viewed it. An intelligent rendering of the subject.
