Sawyer H @RT00971420 2d This movie was quite a joy to me as a child, whereas as an adult rewatching I can properly judge this movie. Though at some points bizarre and altogether at certain points unpleasant (ahem the Mike TV Oompa Loompa scene made me feel high), this is an all around joyful and creative watch for anyone who is a fan of Tim Burton. Though when comparing to the original it doesn’t exactly hold up, I still found this film to hit the mark. See more Kyle M @RT77296778 Jul 19 A faithfully better adaptation that closely elaborates Roald Dahl’s visual storytelling with Tim Burton solidifying his cinematic equivalence through collaborative perfection when his eccentric signature "brightly" and definitively peaked whilst earnestly approached the required thematic representations that’s considerably timeless. But what truly powers the film besides the dazzling vision is Johnny Depp’s quirkily mesmerizing portrayal of the strangely delightful chocolatier in mutually delighted form ever expressively nuanced, then narratively humbled by Freddie Highmore’s admirably embodied innocence.
