See more Jay W Dec 30 I have never seen a movie that had such a hard time focusing. The actors were given some liberty to improv jokes. This leads to some scenes going on for way too long. It feels like the writers were also given liberty to go on whatever tangents they wanted to. Which makes the whole thing become disjointed and unfocused. First there's Chris losing his job, then there's the Christmas competition, Carol's promotion, Nick's bad math grades, his music career, Joy's college goals, her Track meet and then there's the main quest to get the golden rings. Despite the life-or-death situation, Chris keeps getting distracted by the dumbest things. This movie is a mess. But it has a crazy energy. The actors look like they are having a good time making this. And it has a handful of good jokes. It's kind of like a candy cane. See more Fiona G @Princess29 Dec 23 The dad is supposed to come off as funny and charming, but he actually is an annoying, crazy person who won’t leave anyone alone. The plot moves so slowly that I almost aged a year just staring at the TV, waiting for something exciting to happen. It never did. One scene that stood out to me the most was when the dad kept on pulling down these magical decorations that start to move on their own, and they just keep moving around the neighborhood. It’s supposed to be funny, but it keeps dragging on way too long while I sit there asking myself, "Why am I even still watching this?" The acting is flat, and this so-called comedy movie has jokes that are so dry. Overall, Candy Cane Lane is slow, boring, and frustrating. Unlike a holiday treat, watching it feels like a punishment. If you value your time, I’d skip it! Unless you enjoy staring at a screen filled with annoying characters and an endlessly boring plot! See more Read all reviews
