Many scenes are done in wide-shot and in long, continuous takes. This seems to be done because Kanawade wants us to sit and stew in these moments. Use of mostly wide shots does create a distancing effect from the characters in a literal and emotional way.

Very quiet and slow-moving, almost like a documentary about life in an impoverished rural community. The story gradually follows the family, and the main character himself, as they come to accept that he is gay, and shows how much he gains from the simple affection of his boyfriend. The exotic setting and beautifully photographed, high-resolution images added value, but overall the movie was too subdued to make much of an impact.
