If it feels like a non-stop demolition derby, at least there's a responsible driver at the wheel. The British director Paul Greengrass makes everything seem more plausible with twitchy camerawork and even twitchier editing.

Unless the spectator is prepared to relinquish his or her ability to reflect on things almost entirely for two hours or so, Greengrass's film does not stand up to close scrutiny.

Greengrass knows how to shoot action. There is a hand-to-hand combat scene in Morocco that is as exciting, chaotic and violent as any sequence in the Bourne movies, I just wish he had spent more time on the moments between the mayhem.

Greetings from Lithuania. "The Bourne Ultimatum" (2007) is the ultimate movie of this franchise, which at the time of writing this is now consist of 5 movies. The original trilogy itself was excellent, and it ended with the near perfect chase thriller "Ultimatum". At running time 1 h 45 min. This is one of the most efficiently made chase thriller that i have ever seen. Even after multiple views, it doesn't get old. Editing, sound, sound design, directing, music are the best this franchise has ever had and it all culminated in this film. No wonder it won 3 Oscar - all rightly deserved. The pacing of this movie is incredible - its basically a chase movie from start till finish. Script was also excellent. From acting department, for me it was David Strathairn who stole every scene he was in. Overall, "The Bourne Ultimatum" is a movie that moves at the breakneck speed and it never stumbles. Its an excellent finale of the original franchise, and great chase thriller in every possible way

This film is exceptional because it is the franchise at full speed. The movie barely slows down, moving from London to Madrid to Tangier to New York with incredible urgency. It feels like one long chase toward the truth. Matt Damon is at his best. By this point, he completely owns the role, playing him as calm, wounded, precise, and terrifyingly capable. He barely needs dialogue because the character’s intelligence and pain are in every movement. The Waterloo Station sequence, Tangier rooftop chase, Desh fight, and New York finale are all excellent, making surveillance, pursuit, and close-quarters combat feel fresh and intense. The payoff to his identity arc is satisfying because it brings him back to the source of what made him a weapon. This film is outstanding, relentless, and one of the strongest modern action thrillers.
