Recently released from prison, Dix Handley concocts a plan to steal $1 million in jewels. Dix gathers a team of small-time crooks, including a safecracker and a lawyer, and the heist is a success until a stray bullet kills one of the men. As they scramble to pick up the pieces after the theft, the men let their greed get the best of them while entangling themselves in webs of deceit, treachery and murder.

What a great film, and it was a great print too. Everything worked: a terrific story told efficiently, many fine actors in their prime, and rich black-and-white cinematography with plenty of deep tones that fit the story perfectly. It looked great from start to finish.

The Asphalt Jungle is a stellar heist noir, and one of the best films of its kind. The level of detail that went into developing the storyline and characters is incredible, making it feel real and believable. A couple of parts were slightly boring, but overall it was pretty good.
