Form and substance can have a meaningful discourse in a way that doesn't involve compromising any aspect. Films like ' April ' demonstrate that anything can be achieved in a way that is not only rewarding, but enriching. [Full review in Spanish]

I see all the accolades, but I found impossible to agree. I gave up after 14 minutes. The opening scene is several minutes shot at night. In the distance we see a woman standing and rotating very slowly . The audio is some conversations that we don’t understand. Then several minutes of heavy rain falling on the ground. Then, a shock scene: an actual birth filmed from the perspective of the obstetrician who is delivering the baby. It includes the blood, the amniotic fluid splashing on the ground, the actual cutting of the umbilical cord, the whole body of the mother. Next some people around a table discussing a death during delivery. Probably the one we witnessed as the baby never cried. Then several stray dogs and I reached my limit. This is the typical art movie that you watch the same way people used to swallow cod liver oil: it’s good for you. It was presented at the Venice Film Festival but didn’t collect any awards. I can see why. On Mubi, which keeps disappointing me.
