And so it Goes is an attempt to tell a story about 3 damaged people who come together and make each other better. It has all the elements of a tug on your heart strings feel good rom com, except it feels like a Franken-movie. the parts don't fit quite right and something is off. There are too many convenient sob backstories. Douglas is not horrible, but he doesn't really fit in that cantankerous yet loveable bucket. Keaton was ok, but her singing scenes were painful and thank goodness for fast forward. Not that she is a bad singer, but SO tedious. And they are both too old - I get it, second wind and all, but this looks more like about the 5th wind. Especially Douglas. Almost like two actors, late in their careers, trying to create the same kind of interaction they had when they were younger, but just weren't into it.
