Blake- N @PBSAniDom May 27 The Brawler (2019) is a fine film to watch if you enjoy sports dramas with a gritty, down-to-earth style. It has a straightforward story that gives the movie a steady rhythm, and it does a decent job showing the pressure, determination, and struggle that come with chasing success in a tough world. The performances help keep the film watchable, even when the pacing feels a little uneven at times. There are moments that feel strong and engaging, but the movie does not always reach the emotional height it seems to be aiming for. Still, it has enough sincerity to make it worthwhile for fans of the genre. Overall, The Brawler is not a standout film, but it is a respectable and watchable one. He didn't realize at the time that it had no critic reviews and only a small number of audience reviews, most of which look to be fake. We are at least an hour into the movie at the time of this writing, and thus far it has been a very painful hour. The plot is fine I guess (it's based on a true story), but the writing and acting are downright embarrassing. In a word: "cringeworthy." See more 02/16/2019 Amazing film.
