Reporter Angela (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman Scott (Steve Harris) are doing a story on night-shift firefighters for a reality-TV program. A late-night distress call takes them to a Los Angeles apartment building, where the police are investigating a report of horrific screams. The TV team and emergency workers find an old woman, who suddenly attacks with teeth bared. What's more, Angela and company find that the building has been sealed by CDC workers. Then the attacks really begin.

Even with the overacting, I think Quarantine stands out as one of the classic found footage examples. If I had to point people to a movie to watch, I would point them at REC before this. You can find REC right now on prime for a few bucks.

I was very excited when clicking on the movie, but soon became disappointed about 50 minutes in, when the plot was going nowhere. I understand that the camera work was suppose to be authentic, but i can’t help but notice how artificial it looks, half the time zooming in and out unnecessarily. There was no overall progression to the plot; no full explanation as to what’s going on, besides the dog being the cause, and i felt that the movie did not show Jennifer Carpenter’s best acting, as she was hyperventilating for the majority of the second half of the movie. I think the movie had potential, but i do not feel the plot was given the justice it deserved.

Quarantine doesn’t "remake" [REC] so much as it coughs up a smudged, off‑brand bootleg louder, dumber, and somehow even less coherent. It takes the original’s tight, pulse‑killing terror and wrings it dry, leaving behind a limp, tension‑free knockoff that feels like someone tried to recreate greatness after skimming a plot summary.
