Crash is a bit too on the nose as it addresses racial tensions without much subtlety. The score, cinematography, and acting are all pretty outstanding, but it isn’t enough to save the tone-deaf Crash from feeling extremely contrived and overbearing. The movie follows several different characters whose lives unexpectedly collide, creating a story filled with conflict, tension, and deeply emotional moments. The biggest strength of the film is its incredible ensemble cast, with each actor bringing depth and realism to their role. Sandra Bullock delivers another memorable performance, and I truly am infatuated with Sandra Bullock and everything she’s in. She continues to prove why she is such a captivating actress. The screenplay does an excellent job developing each character while showing how their choices and experiences impact one another. The direction keeps the audience fully engaged, balancing multiple perspectives without losing focus. While Crash is not necessarily a film I would revisit often because of its heavy themes, it is still a powerful cinematic experience that leaves an impression.
