Denzel Washington is outstanding, delivering a performance filled with intensity, intelligence, anger, and dignity. He makes Rubin "Hurricane" Carter feel like a complete human being rather than simply a symbol of injustice. The film is emotional without becoming overly sentimental and shows how racism, corruption, and a deeply flawed justice system can destroy a person’s life. At the same time, it is also a story about perseverance, friendship, and refusing to surrender hope. Some details were dramatized for the film, but the central story remains compelling and important.
