Chris S @Janomi Jul 5 Dirty Work is at its best when it feels like a Norm Macdonald delivery system. His deadpan timing, strange pauses, sarcastic insults, and refusal to oversell the jokes give the movie a dry, offbeat personality that separates it from more generic late-’90s comedies. The revenge-for-hire premise is simple but funny, giving Mitch and Sam an easy excuse for prank scenes, escalating stupidity, and a loose sketch-comedy structure. Artie Lange is a solid partner for Norm, while Chris Farley’s brief appearance is especially memorable. The plot is thin, and the emotional stakes with Pop never feel especially strong. Bob Saget keeps things moving, but the filmmaking is pretty basic. Still, the movie has a scrappy cult-comedy charm, with enough mean, weird, stupid jokes to make it enjoyable. See more Mikey P @Mikeypotocki Feb 4 Not that anyone listens to "movie critics" seeing as their all brainless leaches of pop culture but from an unbiased viewpoint this movie is a masterpiece of dry comedy, a nice wave of norm Macdonald fun and the story pacing of a Bob saget picture, very entertaining plot and lots of surprising and interesting casting choices aswell, if you appreciate older comedians like Don Rickles this movie has a lot of funny plot and comedy elements you might enjoy. In the few years since I found this movie it has become one of if not my favorite underrated films of all time, and I’m a fan of my blue heaven with Steve Martin, that’s saying something! Take a chance with this one and if you don’t already, take the critic reviews with a grain of shit, which is probably worth more than most movie critic’s existence. Great movie, the Viniger syndrome cut is even better (and remaster to 4k UHD which is beautiful!) but I’d recommend this movie to everyone mostly comedy enjoyers, worth while watch easily!! It recycles the old 3-stooges plot: "Oh, hey, we have two weeks to raise an insane amount of money for... reasons." That being said, it does have the funniest scene of any American comedy in years. That single scene (with the fish) is worth the price of admission alone. Vineagar Syndrome has just put out an amazing un-rated 3-disc edition complete with the original "Dirtier Version" which is far funnier than the muted PG-13 edition released to theaters.
