Bear B @BearB Sep 9, 2026 Ridiculous, outlandish, dumb, hilarious, and even a bit sexy at times :o If you categorize this as an over-the-top, comic-book-style western comedy it’s great. Categorize it as a serious western and it’s absolutely atrocious. Add it all together and you get an eyeball buster with cult classic potential! It’s so bad at times it’s actually laugh out loud funny and I can’t tell if that was intentional or not. Gene Hackman is the film’s glue and saving grace—keeps it afloat until he backflips (seriously!) to his death! DiCaprio was pretty bad but kinda fun. Stone was trying way too hard but still damn sexy, including another peek-a-boo titillator. These two get it on even though DeCapri seems to be 15 in the film?? Crowe was a bit meh—hadn’t hit his stride yet but the potential was evident. Supporting cast was just way, way over the top and probably the worst aspect of the film. I fault the director for the good, the bad, and the ugly. Buy it if you see it in the $5 bin! I did! See more Rl T @RT92191138 Jul 16, 2026 Some clever gun work and a superb performance from Gene Hackman as the baddie can't overshadow a weak plot, substandard acting, and Sharon Stone's desperate attempts to convince us we should care about her character or backstory. Made not long after her breakout hit with 'Basic Instinct', she tries to bring seduction and sex appeal to her part- but it comes across as tacky and a means to distract us from a general lack of substance. Throw in Russell Crowe, a young Dicaprio and an all-star lineup into the mix- you'd think this Western might be a winner. Sadly, cheesy lines, stunted delivery and a lack of suspense quickly derail what might have been a fun movie. It is well made and has that distinctive Raimi style but I don’t like the concept, it really lacks engagement for me. It’s basically let’s make a feature about wild west duelling and not much else. Whilst this is entertaining it is so forgettable. It is well acted and has good characters but without a story it just gets lost. Perfectly average. See more Read all reviews
