See more @RT08771473 Aug 6, 2026 The Proposal is a 2009 American chick flick comedy starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. It's one of those comedies I decided to watch because so many people recommended it, but honestly, I don't think I'll ever come back to it. The dialogue tries to be funny, but most of the jokes didn't work for me. Even though Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds have good on-screen chemistry, I felt that it wasn't enough to save the movie. The film also attempts to explore the relationship between parents and their children, but this storyline isn't developed deeply enough. There are a few entertaining moments, but they aren't memorable enough to make the film stand out. Betty White (RIP) is probably the best part of the movie, and she brings a lot of charm to every scene she's in, but even her performance couldn't make the overall experience much better. Overall, The Proposal is an average romantic comedy. It has a few enjoyable moments, but they aren't enough to make me recommend it. See more Jagdpanzer T @RT44446946 Jul 14, 2026 As a romcom The Proposal is a bit of a missed opportunity. The premise, the setting, the leads, etc. are all good but there's a few things that really hurt the film as a whole. The first and most obvious one is the overutilization of Betty White. No one is watching this movie to see her hog all the screen time. Literally every time the leads start advancing their relationship in a satisfying way out pops Betty White to ham it up with the same tiresome "old lady without a filter" schtick that we've all seen a thousand times before. As a result the relationship between the main characters ends up feeling rushed and even a little forced by the end. This is especially disappointing since their chemistry is actually pretty good. Other things that hurt the movie (much in the same way) are pointless scenes like the male stripper scene or the ones that touched on the strained father and son relationship which really added nothing to the story.
